Booster for MS-2000

My Ms-2000 does a fair job when connected directly to my TV, bu when "patching" it through my SAT receiver, it looses the two most distant channels. In addition, I'm planning to "split" the output to the tuner of a DVD Recorder which I assume will result in even more signal loss.

Is there a Signal Loss Booster that can be used in conjunction with this unit????

Alternatively, I have a 35 DB two-piece Delhi Maximizer Amp formerly used with my tower mounted "yagi";
Not sure if it would be compatible with the MS-2000, since it incorporates a built-in amp module????

You can use an amplifier between the power injector of the MS-2000 and the input of your satellite receiver. The only thing is we have to be careful not to over amplify the strong channels. I would suggest you try a Winegard HDA-100 amplifier with 15dB of gain to see if that helps. Another option would be to try raising the antenna to try and receive a stronger signal.

Sorry for the highjack, but I have the same model # antenna and wondered what Winegard considers to be too close. I will be taking this antenna on a trip, and the majority of the local tv stations are 35 miles away. Can you use a pre amp safely with this antenna, since it already has an amp built in.
Also, what kind of mast is used in this antenna? It appears to be a 3/4" thread, but not sure as to what type of connector to use? Thanks

At 35 miles you will be just outside the typically recommended mileage of the MS-2000. Adding a second amplifier into the equation will only boost the signal already received at the antenna to make up for splitters, etc. If you are not getting enough signal at the antenna, an amplifier will not correct this issue.

Will it work? It has a good chance. It depends on obstructions, how high you can mount the antenna, strength of the broadcasting station and so on.

According to the link above, the ms-2000 is good for the 10-45 mile range. Or am I reading that incorrectly?

Winegard Company has taken a stance to provide our customers with the most accurate information possible. Right now in the antenna market their are many companies making claims about their antennas that can only happen under extremely beneficial circumstances. We like to take a look at reality and give the best possible recommendation we can.

In some areas the MS-2000 will be able to pick up signal from 45 miles away. In some areas with lower signal strength due to obstructions and other factors you may have problems pulling in signals from 20 miles away. Unfortunately, antennas do not just work based on mileage, you must take into account the broadcasting strength of the channel, every hill, every valley, every tree, every building and so on.

On average, the MS-2000 will do a fantastic job picking up signals up to 30 miles away. When a customer is further away than 30 miles we recommend a larger antenna because the majority of customers will require it. The new digital signal also seems to be weaker in some areas so we again error on the conservative side.
