Need help/suggestions/recommendations.

I currently live in zip code 79044, about 71 miles from the town I will be trying to get locals from.
My area has a lot of higher winds and random weather.

Looking for something as small as possible, but with a decent reception ability (contradiction, I know).
Really looking to do whatever it takes.

Also, good mounting recommendations since I do live in an area with some high and powerful winds.

Here is the antenna recommendation from our Technical Service Manager.


Since your TV stations will be broadcasting their digital signals on both hi band VHF and UHF the best antenna Winegard would have to offer you is the HD7698P and we also suggest the use of an AP-8275 preamplifier. This antenna would need to mounted at least 50 feet high. Any thing less and your chances of having a working system will marginal at best.

Now, my only issues is getting it mounted and secure 50 feet up.
How do I go about doing this?

Like I mentioned, I live in an area that's pretty random with strong winds.
I just want to make sure it's the best set up I can do.

So any kits? Etcetc?

There are a few options depending on how you want to install the antenna. You can use a TV antenna tower or a tall pole such as a telephone/power pole. There are also telescoping antenna masts that use guy wires to hold them in place which can be installed on your roof.

Basically you are going to need as large a antenna as you can buy, a television rotor and maybe even a UHF dedicated antenna.

If you read some of my other posts, you will read that UHF is only rated for 40 miles of service.

Your best bet is to hire a antenna contractor to come and install a new antenna for you on a 50 foot tower.
You will have to take into consideration that any tower that you construct has to be at least 1 and one half times as far away from electric lines as it is tall. So if you live in a residential area with a very small yard, you will probably have to make arrangements with the neighbors to construct such a large tower or you might have to get permission from one of the neighbors with a larger piece of property to construct it on their property.
