dtv channels missing

Postby farmmatt » Thu Jun 04, 2009 1:25 am

I live near 59643, Toston Montana, I have a winegard antenna installed in a new 2009 star stream camper, and I hooked up a dtv converter box, channel 12-1 works well, but channel 10-1 has absolutely no signal, and says invalid channel, but when I switch to analog, the channel comes in clear, could there be a problem with the antenna not picking up all the frequencies dtv uses? I use an airlink 101 dtv converter box.

Good morning farmmatt -

Channel 12.1 from Helena MT is broadcasting their digital signal on channel 12’s frequency which is VHF. Where as channel 10.1 is actually broadcasting their digital signal UHF on channel 29’s frequency. The Sensar antenna on your camper is designed to and will receive all channels 2-69 if the signal is strong enough. It sounds like you are in an area that has weak UHF signals and there is not enough TV signal for your converter box to lock onto. You can try adding channel 10.1 manually if your converter box will allow you to do so. But try entering channel 29 in place of 10.1 to see if the converter box will lock onto that frequency since that is the frequency channel 10.1 is using..

I tried to add channels manually, but that didn't work. I was reading the paper today and found out that they were having problems with getting fcc licenses and problems with broadcasting at incorrect frequencies. So I think the problem originated from Helena. They referred it to a work in progress, and said that the problems would be fixed soon.
