winegard wingman

Postby gregg121 » Thu Aug 16, 2012 10:58 am

I recently installed a wingman uhf booster for sensar antennas. I received no benifit from doing so. I was hopig to improve my range and reception. The box in came in says for "Sensar" antennas. I am wondering if my present Winegard antenna may not be a sensar model therefore that is why no increase. I have a 2003 Itasca Suncruiser. No literature with it except general installation instructions. No model number can be located. The general body shape of main antenna is oval and equall on both ends. Picture on box ox new booster shows exsisting sensar antenna is thinner in thickness on one end.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming that the "wings" on your Sensar antenna are painted then the Wingman will give as much help as you can get. The antenna you describe is the Sensar II and will do a fine job. The antenna is highly directional so it most important that the tip of the Wingman be pointed exactly toward the signal source. If you have obstructions between the towers and your location the signal might be just too weak for reception. You can look at sites like www.tvfool.com for information of reception and signal strength. It the signal is too far off or blocked there might not be anything that will help. If the signal is "there" but breaking up, you might want to take a look at the Winegard Sensar Pro which is a replacement for your existing wall plate which provides 12V power to the amplifier inside the head of the Sensar but also adds a secondary booster to help pull in the weaker signals.
