Hook Up of Sensar III

Postby chasfish » Sun Apr 15, 2012 8:39 pm

I just installed a Sensar III to my 1988 Regal Prowler trailer (Model 33T) to replace the old original wire rod antenna. However, my TV indicates that no signal is being received. The TV has a box with it per the 2009 digital conversion process. It worked before on the old antenna with the same box connections, but now does not work with the new Sensar. I am sure the cable is attached properly to the Sensar unit.

Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this??

Sensar III Troubleshooting - No Signal Mesage on TV

Postby chasfish » Sun Apr 15, 2012 8:52 pm

I just installed a Sensar III to my 1988 Regal Prowler trailer (Model 33T) located in PA mid-state (45 miles east of of Penn State) to replace the old original wire rod antenna.

Do I need some kind of power boost for the antenna??

Good morning Chuck,

The Sensar III antenna requires +12.0 VDC from the coach to be sent up to the antenna. Was you old antenna a powered unit and if so, did it provide +12.0VDC to the antenna. If the old unit did not provide the +12.0 VDC to the antenna you will need to provide +12.0VDC to the Sensar III antenna head. This can be accomplished by installing one of Winegard’s RV-7000, RV-7500, RV-8000, or RV-9000 series power supplies between the antenna and your TV(s).

Another option you can use to power you antenna is to install a Winegard SB-2000 battery adaptor in the coax cable between the antenna and your TV set(s) to send power up to the antenna. To check if your system is sending the +12.0VDC up to the antenna use volt meter at the end of the coax cable going into the Sensar III antenna. The center conductor of the coax cable is your + point and the outside of the connector is your – point.
