I picked up one of these pre-amps recently from an on-line retailer, and installed it a couple days ago. My installation is a CM4221 clone on a roof-mounted tripod with rotor. The amp worked great, and immediately significantly improved signal strength (as shown by TV) compared to the low-budget RCA amp I was using prior. Unfortunately, today, reception has dropped off dramatically. If I unplug the Winegard power supply for a few seconds, and then reconnect, the signal strength meter on the TV jumps up from 'Weak' to 'Good', and the channel is displayed for a few seconds, after which time the channel cuts out, and signal strength is back to 'Weak' again. This can be repeated by power-cycling the pre-amp as above.
There has been no bad weather in the area since I installed the unit. The coax length is about 70 ft, no splitters, one TV only. The coax was tested, and shows no shorts between center and ground.
Are there other tests I could perform to further diagnose this problem, or is the pre-amp faulty?
Thanks in advance,
Roger.
