Clearstream 4 and Winegard AP-8700

I am getting poorer reception with the AP-8700 installed. I installed a clearstream 4 antenna outside and ran quad shielded cable from the antenna to one TV directly. The run is exactly 100ft. in length. I followed the instructions on the installation of the 8700 and it just didn't work. Can someone give me clue as to what I'm doing wrong? The LED comes on and I used the cable that came with my unit to connect the power to the splitter. I evan made a short RG6 quad shield cable to go from the amp on the mast to the antenna. I tried fixed and variable trap but I couldn't turn the screw to adjust the variable it was either covered so you couldn't or your not supposed to adjust it.
