HD7000R element trimming to eliminate VHF-Low reception

Postby namrogorman » Wed Apr 28, 2010 4:11 pm

I have a HD7000R that I would like to cut the VHF-LOW elements shorter to eliminate the VHF-low reception.
My reception area has digital channels 9, 11, 13 in VHF-High and 22, 23, 28 in UHF So I do not need the long elements to capture the VHF-Low channels. I understand that the long rear elements use the 3:1 ratio factor to also bring in the VHF-High channels but this antenna is too wide to fit my installation. I would like to know what length I should cut the rear longest elements to eliminate the VHF-Low reception to make this antenna receive VHF-High and UHF channels only?

To modify the HD7000R start at the rear of the antenna and cut the short element on the bottom of the boom off at the edge of the metal clip. The long VHF element above the short element cut it to 15 inches long on each side from the rivet. The next VHF element forward cut it to 9.5 inches long from the rivet on each side. This is all of the modification you should require.
