PL-1000 VR power injector

Postby deep fringe » Fri Nov 06, 2009 7:35 pm

I recently installed the HD8200U with AP8275 preamp. All was fine untill today when all signals were lost. Ihave 15.5 volts to the power injector, and the red LED is on. I only have .5 volts at the "ANT" jack. Should I have 15.5 volts?

The output of the power injector at the ANT connector should +15VDC going to the the preamplifier. You can go to the videos section on the site and watch the video Troubleshooting a Winegard Power Supply to verify all the proper voltage checks.

If you find that your power supply or power injector is defective send a copy of your receipt too warranty@winegard.com and they will repair or replace the unit for you.

I removed the back of the unit and discovered that the center electrode from the jack had corroded or burned off between the jack and the board. I fixed it temporarily by soldering a wire between the center of the jack and the last coil in the circuit. I also found that the insulation on the coax connections coming from the "ANT" jack seems to have melted somewhat. Perhaps there is too much resistance somewhere.
