FM Trap - Suggestions with a Channel 6

I have a client has FM signals point right at them in the -30 dbm range. He wants to receive a Ch6 that is -27 dbm, but also has a Ch 12 at -38 dbm. Several of the FM stations at about -30 dbm second harmonic fall right on Ch12.

Should he put the FM Trap after a HDP-269? I was thinking the amplified CH6 would pass though the trap ok if it was amplified? That is a question. Yet the FM trap would still reduce any harmonics? I know if there is any mixing that occurs before the trap, the trap will not stop that.

Should we even use a trap?

Why do stations use ch6? (don't have to answer that question) Why did we give up channels 52-59? (another one best not answered).

Here is the reply back from Hans...

The FM trap will not reduce second harmonics transmitted by the FM station over the air. There are not any traps made that can tell the second harmonics of an FM station from the TV stations frequency. You have to install the FM trap ahead of the HDP-269 preamplifier to reduce the original FM frequency going into the preamplifier so that we do not cause the amplifier to build second harmonics within it because of too strong of an incoming FM signal.

Will the case I showed loose too much CH6 if he puts in a trap is what I should have just asked.

You will need to find a HI "Q" FM trap that will not drop down and reduce channel 6"s frequency. You will have to do a internet search for the HI "Q" FM trap.
