SS-2000 Trouble

Postby billpear » Thu Aug 13, 2009 3:07 pm

Hi There folks I live in the 92646 zip code and have a SS-2000 antenna, prior to the DTV cut-over it was working great receiving all the channels available, recently I realized that channels 11 (previously one of my strongest) and 13 do not come in anymore, I've rescanned the TV and still no go. Is my antenna failing or is there an adjustment I need to make to it's pointing? Thanks for your advice.

Good morning Billpear -

Just to humor us please do another scan on your tv. Also if you can manually enter the channels please do that. We have seen numerous occasions where the automatic scan does not pick up enough signal but putting it in manually solves the problem.

The overall issue sounds like you are just not receiving enough signal on those channels anymore. I am suprised you receive channel 7 and not 11/13, that is why I think the manual entry of those channels will work. However, it is possible they are broadcasting at a slightly lower power and you are just not receiving enough signal.

Do you have a long cable run from your antenna to the tv? If so, you may need a pre-amp.

Try moving your antenna several feet horizontally and try another scan as well. The new digital signal works like a cell phone signal and you may be in a "dead area" of your house.

Let us know, thanks.

I will try moving the antenna and if I recall I have tried to direct enter the channels but will try that again, I wouldn't call my cable run long no more than 20 feet. I really want to confirm that it is not a "Partial Falure" of the antenna, an it is more of a signal/aiming issue. Thanks!
