SS1000 tuning

Hoping to get some insight into tuning a SS1000 for the Washington DC area, specifically for picking up Channel 7 and 9 which has gone VHF after the 6/12 switchover to DTV. Prior to the switchover on 6/12, I was able to pickup both of these channels along with other network channels (ch 4, 5, 20, etc) - However, after the switchover, I discovered that these 2 channels have moved over to VHF.

I understanding that the SS1000 is listed as being engineered for UHF, yet will "This antenna is UHF ONLY, it may pick up VHF Ch 7-13 but it is engineered for UHF signals" . Also, I've seen some mention of tuning the SS1000, as seen on the Amazon description page for the SS1000 (as well as several other places, which posts the same write up). So, I am hoping to get a better understand of this "tuning" reference, are we talking about rotating the skew on the swivel mount that came with the SS1000 or something else?

Here is the description about tuning that I had read..
"It is tunable for increased Low-band VHF performance by rotating the antenna from the horizontal plane to the vertical plane (usually 5-15 degrees) (rotation bracket included). This makes the antenna more resonate in the Low-band VHF channels 2-6 with excellent reception characteristics in the 0-15 mile range. This rotation of the antenna element may also assist in mitigating any co-channel interference issues (a signal meter is recommended for this application)."

To improve VHF signal you can try to skew (rotate) the antenna on the backup mount to see if that helps. But depending on your signal strengths, location, and other factures you need to go to the GS-1100 Sensar III antenna which will receive the VHF signals much better.

Thank you for your confirmation of the "skew" rotation adjustment on this SS1000.

Took me a few days to find time to get back into the attic - But, I managed to trial several positions and it did the trick for me at somewhere between 20-20 degrees skew - Now I get the other channels on VHF also...
