HD7697P but no signal

Postby 85joker » Tue Jun 12, 2012 11:50 pm

I was testing a HD7697P setup about 8' from the ground before going to the roof, about 20'. I was using 10' of coax. I expected to get some signal into my brand new TV, but I got nothing. I live in the 93004 zip code and am about 65 miles from the towers. There some mountains in LA, but nothing? The models say it should be strong dvt signal (assuming 30' in the air) at -40dBm. I think this antenna has a 12 dBic gain I would have thought I could get something. I am putting the roof mount operation on hold...

I guess my questions are:
1)do I need an amplifier like and LNA near the antenna?
2)would 20' in the air help in your option...go from nothing to clear?
3)antenna straight into the TV, right?

Thanks!!

Good morning 85joker -

1.) You do not need a amplifier in that area.

2.) Anytime you can get the antenna higher in the air, it is better for signal especially in areas where there are mountains or other obstructions.

3.) Yes antenna straight into the television.
