When hard wiring a dish if the polarity is reversed will it damage the dish? Thanks

If you are wiring up a 12V antenna then the answer is either YES or NO (as it should not work at all). Please ensure that you have 12V+ connected to the 12V+ connection and the 12V- connected to the 12V- connection. If you are talking about one of the Winegard antennas that uses a 120V power source then the answer is NO.

Re: Dish polarity

It is a carry out and I cut the supplied power cord which revealed a black and a red wire. I assumed the red wire was positive. I hard wired the dish power cord to a 12 v supply. The dish tried to locate a satellite and was unsuccessful and kept grinding away. I unplugged it a couple of times to stop the searching. Then finally it stopped searching even though I moved the dish to a different location. I got suspicious and check the polarity on the cigaret plug to find out that the red wire was actually the negative supply. Is there a fuse in the dish itself? Thanks a bunch for your responses.
