I have an old (5+ years maybe?) gs-2200 paired with a gs-wing. It seems to deliver a pretty good signal regardless of whether the amplifier is plugged in or not. Am guessing that the amplifier is not making any difference, even though the red light does turn on. Also tried connecting the coax cables 'backward's which destroyed the signal with the amplifier plugged in. What steps can i take to identify whether the problem is in the wing or in the amplifier? Which should be replaced?
More details:
Antenna is mounted on roof about 25 above ground.
Coax run is about 55'. RG-6 pure copper all the way.
All stations i want are in the same direction, so no worries about directionality.
Would like to lower antenna about 5' for better spousal acceptance factor, so improving the signal is high priority.
Thanks for your help!
