2 Antenna Set-up for Multi TVs

Postby otaer » Sun May 24, 2009 4:18 pm

What is the best way to have a 2 antenna set up for multiple TVs?

In my case (for example) top antenna is pointed east to furthest transmitter (60 miles).

Bottom antenna (3 feet below top one) is pointed north to closer transmitter (30 miles).

I would like to have separate coax lines running into a coupler, and then the one coax out of the coupler would feed into a 2 way splitter, which then feeds two separate TVs.

Both antennas would have a separate pre-amp: top antenna (pointed to furthest transmitter) would get AP 4700. Bottom antenna would get HDP-269.

Will this give me the best set up to get all signals from both transmitters to both TVs?

I easily get signals from each, but on a rotor, which I don't want to use.

Good morning otaer -

You can combine out put of each preamplifier power supply using the CC-7870 coupler or an SP-1002 2 way splitter hooked up in reverse. The combined signal would then feed another SP-1002 2way splitter feeding your 2 TV sets.

Thank you for your response.

Is there any (slight) difference (db lost) between the coupler and the splitter when used as a coupler?

The loss of a splitter or coupler is the same no matter if it is used as a coupler or splitter. The only time you do not have a coupler (combiner) loss is when you stack 2 single channel antennas for gain and everything is in phase.
