AP-8700 Install

Postby mjmadden » Mon Nov 08, 2010 12:06 pm

I have an AP-8700. My system is antenna to AP-8700,to ground block to splitter . The led lights
, fades, then goes out, showing a fault. removed the splitter and ground fault, still shuts off.
Also, will the AP-8700 pass signal even without power? Suggestions?

The red LED light going out indicates a short in the coax cable between the power injector and the preamplifier or the preamplifier itself. Try disconnecting the downlead cable going from the power injector up to the AP-8700 at AP-8700 preamplifier. You should now have the power injector powered up and sending +14VDC to +15VDC up the coax cable. If the red LED goes out the problem is in the coax cable or your connectors. If the red LED stays on then the problem is in the AP-8700 itself.

If you have a voltmeter or access to one you can go watch the Troubleshooting a Winegard Power Supplyvideo showing you the proper voltages to check for at each point in your system.
