Re: reception Ant FV-HDCOFirst of all your TV set has to be able to receive and decode the digital TV signal sent out by the TV stations. The TV set has to have an ATSC (digital) tuner or your older TV set has to have a digital converter box attached to it that will receive and convert the incoming digital signal from the TV antenna to an analog signal that the non HD TV set can watch.
Secondly, the FV-HDCO (FV-HD30) antenna is a small antenna designed to receive TV signals up 30 miles. Adding a preamplifier such as the Winegard AP-8275 could possibly help. You are approximately 50 air miles from the NYC TV stations which mean in order to receive a strong digital TV signal your TV antenna needs to be installed at least 40 feet high above the ground. If your installation would allow a larger antenna then the recommended antenna would be a Winegard HD7697P along with a Winegard AP-8275 preamplifier. If you wish to pursue the larger antenna and preamplifier Winegard will accept your FV-HDCO antenna and credit your purchase price toward the cost of the trade in for the larger antenna system.
