MS2000 Lost VHF Channels Overnight

Postby llwsco » Tue Sep 07, 2010 10:54 pm

Hi,

This past week I lost the only two VHF channels in our viewing area (81501) which I had previously received with a very strong signal with the antenna mounted on cast iron waste stack at least 35 ft up with all the proper grounding. All UHF channels continue to come in strong. I have tested the antenna on digital tvs in two different homes with neither 8.1 or 11.1 getting a signal from antenna. I have been totally satisfied with performance with the Winegard antenna up to this point but I see another post (Lost signal Overnight on 3 stations using MS-2000) had the same problem. I am beyond the 90 day warranty with the antenna purchased in Jan 2010. My questions are: are there any user serviceable parts in this antenna, ie: amplifier board and is it worth it to replace; if I do replace it is there possibly anything in an installation that would cause the amplifier board to fail; and if not is this a common problem with Winegard MS2000 antennas?

Thanks

Good morning llwsco -

The loss of VHF signals is not a common problem. There are no user serviceable parts on the amplifier board mounted in the antenna head. Please send a copy of your receipt for the MS-2000 to Winegard either by email (warranty@winegard.com) or by fax 319-754-0715 and Winegard will issue you an RMA number to use to return the MS-2000 under for repair or replacement.

Good Job Winegard!

A big thank you to the Winegard staff for the prompt, friendly, professional customer service. Antenna arrived UPS 14Sep10 and swapped out with replacement working beautifully, no VHF issues at all. Kudos to Winegard for customer support which means customer satisfaction which means future customer and good recommendations for Winegard!

Thanks again.

I'm experiencing the same problem. Fox affiliate in Detroit is a VHF channel 7 station. I get no signal for it anymore. All other stations work fine. This obviously happens more often than stated. I sent an email as well to warranty support. I hope I can get this resolved also. What a hassle this is! I now have to go up on the roof in the middle of winter and take down the old antenna and replace it. On top of that, how long before I get a replacement? Do I have to send mine in first? I'm already missing American Idol!! Does that mean I'll be without tv while I send the old one back and wait for a replacement? I don't know, cable is starting to sound better and better. It's a great antenna when it works but this is the second breakdown in a few months. Shortly after purchasing the antenna, the powered inserted (for lack of better term) went. Luckily, Winegard sent me a replacement without having to wait to send it back first. I'm hoping my experience will be just as good. 2breakdowns in a few months? Not looking good...

Well, I'll report back when it's resolved.
