I need help.

I am trying to obtain an HD signal on the first floor of a 2 story brick office buiding. My office has windows on the south and west. Prior to the 6/12 conversion, I was using a RCA-amplified indoor antenna and a Samsung HD TV with some success. After the conversion, I lost the majority of channels. I recently purchased a Terk indoor amplified antenna, with no change. I am currently looking at the Winegard SS-3000 to see if that will help. The Samsung channel scan is a slow process and consistently has not been able to find the signal of desired channels. The signal strength test is available only once a channel has been located.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi Steve, Welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately, you didn't give us enough information as to where your office building is at - Street address and city are necessary for a good antenna report.

Unfortunately - your problem is a common one. You did get tv with analog VHF and cannot get it with digital UHF or you could get it with Digital high UHF and now cannot get it with low VHF digital signals.

The only advice I can give you is that no amplified rabbit ear antenna is going to solve your problem.

At this point the only recommendation I can give is for you to buy a good outside antenna and mount it on the roof of the building you occupy as high as possible. You might also need to add a antenna rotor to get most of the stations in your location.

There are some city applications where there is buildings more than 4 stories tall where you will not get a signal no matter how hard you try if your building is too low and theirs are too tall.

The people in the electronics's stores that sells that rabbit ears crap should not be allowed to stay in business. Most rabbit ear antennas only receive VHF and the ones that do receive UHF usually do not have enough surface area to receive the signal properly.

UHF is line of sight and if you cannot see the transmitter tower because of obstructions than neither will your television receive antenna.

The SS-3000 is rated for stations under 30 miles, a CEA color code of yellow and channels 2 - 69. If that fits your stations it is definitely a good antenna.

If you would like a more in-depth answer please provide us with your location and we can take a better look. I assume because this is an office you are looking for an indoor only antenna?
