Kudos to WinegardI have a 1992 CA-8100 "Big Wedge" antenna on a 30' mast on a one story house, so it's about 42' above the ground. I'm in zip 95124 and I'm getting 56 channels. I'm even getting a couple of the Sacramento stations with it pointed at San Francisco. I could probably get all of them if I rotate it and rescan. It might make an interesting experiment to see just how far this rig will bring in. My guess is 150 miles? Now I see Winegard doesn't make wedge antennas anymore, but still the 8200 and the 8200U. Was the 8200 better? Here in San Jose, you still see a lot of wedge antennas.
Re: Kudos to WinegardThe HD8200U, along with the HD7698P are our top 2 performing antennas. HD7698P covers frequencies 7-69 which is the majority of the U.S. The max range of the antenna varies depending on terrain, atmospheric conditions, obtructions, and mounted height of the antenna. In most cases the digital signal will travel anywhere from 60 to 70 miles at most.
