which should I be buying

We live in manitoba canada. There are 2 wineguard systems we are currently looking at. One is the roof mount larger size and the other is the dome size. We will be travleing to the USA. Does anyone from Manitoba canada have the dome mount that works in the USA? I like the size and the convenience but some tell us we can get reception in the southern states and some say we cant. it is a shaw direct unit we are thinking of purchasing! Help Please as we need to know soon!
