Can you use an HD receiver with the carryout antenna?

Yes. If this is a Dish HD receiver you can use any single tuner HD receiver (VIP211K is my recommendation) with full access to all of the Dish programming.
If this is a DirecTV HD receiver you can use any of their HD receivers except the H25 and the HR34 and they will also work just fine. However, due to the way DirecTV broadcasts their HD programming you will only be able to receive the SD versions of the programs being broadcast. This is a limitation of all domes on the market and not specific to the Carryout.
Even the H25 and HR34 receivers "can" be used but require the additional of some special SWM hardware to make the receiver work properly. I don't recommend this setup but if it's a requirement for your setup, let me know and I will link you to the necessary information.
