Getting new box to work with new dish

Postby bronco » Wed Apr 08, 2009 7:24 pm

We just had a Trav'ler SK-3005 dish installed on our motorhome to replace the AS-2003 which wouldn't work with our R-22 Directv box.
We still are having problems with the box and dish communicating. The dish finds the satellites fine, but the box is having a problem connecting.
When it gets to the "verifing connectivity" screen, it stays there for a few minutes, then the message "A satellite signal could not be detected, Please check your installation and retest".
This is with the setup on Slimline 3S (SWM). Is this the proper setting for this dish?

I don't have an R-22 to try it, but I'm pretty sure you need to select a non-SWM (Slimline-5) dish in the setup.

If you have a SWM dish selected, the receiver is trying to establish the SWM intermediate frequency communications, and the Trav'ler doesn't have SWM technology built-in, so the receiver will never "talk" to the LNBs.

There is one other remote possibility that I can think of during the troubleshooting. Make sure the Trav'ler has good clear line of sight to the satellites. I have had one case where the Trav'ler was able to see enough signal through the trees to lock-on, but the receiver did not see enough signal to be happy. I know this is a really long shot, but I don't want to overlook the sometimes simple fix.

Don,

Resetting the dish to a Slimline 5 did the trick. We now have TV in our motorhome, (for better or worse).
Thanks for the help.
