SK-3005 Manual / Installation guide

Postby sanfaz » Thu Apr 02, 2009 8:28 pm

Is their any thought to a revised Installation/Operations manual for this unit? No offense but the current version, IMHO is lacking detail.

We are always willing to take suggestions on improving our manuals.

What did you find that should have been more detailed?

Specifically, "Figure 5" in the installation manual shows 3 receivers being connected at the entry plate and yet their is no close up shot of the receivers as they connect to the base of the dish. There is no overall detail explanation of the parts and connections on the Trav'ler unit as a close up. In Figure 5 you show connectors A-B-C and power on the base with no close up or explanation what these are for. Maybe it's just me but I'm used to seeing at the very top of an installation manual a detailed blow up with nomenclature that helps one better understand the rest of the manual.

I don't want you to think I have forgotten this...

I am looking into this and seeing what we can do to improve the manual in in the future.

It would be helpful to have an exploded diagram of the unit in the event repairs are necessary. My SK-3005 got an "SK Motor Stalled" code and refused to retract. The parts are still under warranty and I will install it myself, but I would be happier knowing --in advance of receiving it-- what the process is and what has to be taken apart. While I am confident I'll figure it out, having the exploded view would be an asset.

Much of the SK-3005 is designed to be replaced only at the factory which is the reason a parts break down is not commonly available. The Skew motor is one of these things.

I have attached a sheet of those kits that are available. To replace the skew motor, give us a call at the number below and we can talk about getting you the parts you need. Though it is most likely going to be a new unit.

I have a sk motor stall problem also and it seems like it's the board controlling the motor because there is no binding at all. The motor moves in 30 degree intervals. Is this the control board for the sk-3500. This board that is under the metal cover under the unit mounting?

The RP-SK80 is still being debated as to whether it can be replaced in the field. Contact us at the number below. It might not need anything that drastic.

I talked to Roni already. I have the EL calibration routine and checked the dish type. Since my dish is not mounted now it would be so much easier if I could send this board to you for testing. I wrote down my serial number but left them home. No time right now to pack up this entire dish and ship it to you.
