RM-DM46 Install

Postby Ad Wizard » Wed Apr 01, 2009 4:05 pm

Hello,

I recently purchased a 2004 RV with a factory Winegard crank-up over-the-air antenna. I would like to replace it with your crank-up satellite dish. Can I simply remove the old antenna and use the existing hole and coax cable that is already routed to the TV jacks? Or will I need to drill a new hole and/or reroute new cable?

Thanks in advance for the help!

The only hole the two units have incommon is the center hole that is used for the crank mechanism.

The hole that the cable for the antenna enters the coach for the antenna is covered by the base of the satellite system. So you will need to run new cables.

Also, the screw patterns are different.

I generally recommend installing both since you already have the antenna on the roof.

Since the switch to digital isn't the factory antenna no longer functional? Is it a problem to remove it and replace it with the RM-DM46 to minimize holes in roof if you are strictly going to use satellite service such as DirecTV?

The digital transition has no bearing or effect on the existing batwing antenna, it will continue to work just fine.
