Wall plate / switch

Postby lazybees » Sun Nov 08, 2009 5:27 pm

We have a 2007 Newmar Dutch Star with a motorized Sensar antenna. Over the last few weeks the green led indicating that the antenna or cable connection is selected has faded slowly until now it doesn't illuminate at all. In addition, previously pressing the switch on the plate not only illuminated the led, it also cut off any cable channels. Now that has no effect. We took the plate off the wall today and the circuit board appears corroded, however there doesn't appear to be any water intrusion into the wall cavity where it lives.

In testing with a voltmeter there appear to be no grounding or short issues as the leads and the 12v outlet all measure correctly. We are trying to decide what to do next.....Are there other troubleshooting steps we should attempt? Any info you can provide is most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, if the back of the switch looks corroded, it is.
You will need to replace the wall plate.

Often the exterior walls of coaches will trap humidity which can cause this. This may or may not indicate a leak somewhere in your coach.
