Hi!
Well, the subject sort of describes the problem but I'd like to nail down a course of action.
I have a 2004 Jayco camper with an RV-6004 antenna and a powered wall outlet. When I set up the camper yesterday I hooked up TVs in the entertainment center and bedroom. Scanning for channels resulted in no less than 20 channels found on each TV. Everything worked fine for a couple of hours, then the signal started to deteriorate. Eventually neither TV could find a signal. I rotated the antenna a bit and barely got signal for 1 station. It was very tentative and it seemed that any movement in the camper would cause the signal to fluctuate.
Today I went up on the roof to see if there was an obvious problem. No debris or branches anywhere near it. I checked voltage at the COAX right at the head. 13.6VDC. I replaced the COAX between the head and roof. No change. Just to be sure it was not our location I installed a couple of rabbit ears antennas and got 9 channels on one TV and 5 on the other. Of course these are inside an aluminum sheathed camper so I am surprised they worked at all.
My questions are:
Is it likely that the amp in the antenna head would die like this at 6 years old?
Can just the head be replaced or dose the wall outlet need replacement, too?
Thanks for any insight.
