Control Box for the SK-3005

Postby ohhappy » Tue Oct 06, 2009 10:40 am

I have the sk-3005 up and running, works great! High signal strength on all sats. Question, Do I turn the control box off after it has searched and found sats or do I leave it on? How do I turn it off without lowering dish? Yesterday the wind was very strong. Is there a wind limit as to when I should lower dish? I put it down because it got blown off the signal. If I had left it up would it have readjusted itself automatically and reaquired the signal? Great product! I also have the Carryout and it also works great. Thanks for the help, JDA

You will need to leave the control box on while you use the unit. Turning it off will stow the antenna. There really isn't a good way to power it off without lowering it. This is a safety feature.

The TRAV'LER is rated to handle 70+ mph winds so what I normally tell people is if you are willing to be in the coach, you can leave the antenna up.

Thank you for the quick reply! I really appreciate the tec support from your company. You did fail to answer one of my questions. If the dish is locked onto the sats and is blown off point by strong winds, will the system automatically reaquire the signal or do you have to do a new search? Thanks, JDA

Sorry for the delay, I answered this once but it seems the post didn't take...

The TRAV'LER will not blow off the signal. If it does, the coach moved or something blew into the path of the 'beam'. If this happens, you will need to start a new search for the signal. If something blows into the path and obstructs the signal, you will need to move the coach before starting a search.
