Will all Dish Network HD Receivers work with Road Trip SD

Postby Charlieanddawn » Tue Aug 04, 2009 11:15 pm

I just purchased a Road Trip SD I plan on using it with Dish Network
Which HD Dish Network Receivers will work with A Road Trip SD?
Will I need any other equipment? (Switches,HD interface etc)
Can I use 2 recievers?
Is it possible to use a HD DVR receiver for one of the recievers?
Are some recievers better than others for RV use?
Is one programming package better than another for use with the Road Trip SD?

The Road Trip SD is compatible with all current HD models. The Road Trip has two outputs so you can either use 2 seperate single tuner receivers or 1 DVR receiver since the DVR model will use both outputs for the dual tuner. If you look on the electronics lid of the Road Trip and it has a "SW64 Ready" label, nothing else is required for HD viewing. It should be SW64 ready since you recently purchased it. Based on my experiences with receivers, I would recommend using a VIP211 HD receiver or a VIP722 HD DVR receiver. There was an Dish Network issue a while back that caused the check-switch test to fail Satellite 129 and I know that it has been resolved for these two models. You must remember that this antenna can only be pointed at 1 satellite at a time so if you use a dual tuner DVR such as the VIP722, you will not be able to view a channel on satellite 129 and record something on 119. It has been my experience that the VIP211 is best for RV use. You can use two VIP211 receivers with both outputs but you must also remember that only the receiver connected to the primary port will toggle the antenna between satellites. As far as programming packages, that is a personal choice. I hope this information helps you out.
