I have a 2000 Fleetwood discovery and would like to know if i need additional support or the mounting plate ska - 008 for installation or can i just screw the unit directly into the rubber roof

You can caulk and screw the unit directly to the roof. Where the rubber roller lays on the roof in the stowed position you are going to want to install a small landing plate such as the SKA-004.
