Security of Carry Out from theft

Is there a problem chaining the Carry Out to something and do you have any other security recommendations?

A post on the board on the rv.net forum quoted a member as saying he was told by a Winegard customer service representative that drilling a hole in the bottom part of a CarryOut to install an eyebolt for a security cable would not void the warranty. Is this correct?

In almost every case this will void your warranty.

I am looking at unscrewing the feet and placing a metal plate in between the body and the reinstalled feet. The metal plate could have holes for padlocking the unit flat to a picnic table or such. Would this void the warranty or provide interference to the proper operation of the unit? Additionally, I don't see any mention of a lock on the quick disconnect ladder attachment. If it has a locking provision, it would have locking potentional for those of us that don't have a ladder on our RV.

Attaching something to one of the feet will be fine.

The reason we can not have people drilling into the base is that it is nearly impossible to get all of the metal filings and if any of these filings get into the electronics, bad things can happen.

I guess you might have to use a padlock, make a hole is some place, or you might have simply put your winegard to a place that it is hard to reach by those people. make it semi permanent into its place to make it hard to detached.
