Getting a signal from SK-3005 to HD Reciever

Getting a signal from SK-3005 to HD RecieverI have an issue with my self installed SK-3005. As far as I can tell (non techie like I am) it is up and running since I have the screen saying *101 *110 *119. The operating instructions say "I am now ready to watch TV!" Right. I had my RV dealer run a new coax from the B port directly into the sat#1 port on the reciever. The receiver insists it has no signal. I called DirecTV and they had me do the signal strength test and it came up all zeros!! Any ideas?? Is the reciever not set for the correct dish or? Thanks
Re: Getting a signal from SK-3005 to HD RecieverYou are on signal. The receiver is not required for the SK-3005 to lock in.
There are a few possibilities, You could have a bad cable. To test this you will need to have someone get on the roof and remove the cable from B and test the end of it for 12-18VDC if you have this the cable is good. If not, you may have a bad end of the coax. The voltage is provided by the receiver. See if you can get any program guides. If you get a guide, you receiver is seeing the signal despite what the signal meter says. Unplug the receiver for 20 min and then plug it back in and try again, sometimes the receiver just gets confused. Most likely, you wont find voltage. If there is a splitter or anything else between the receiver and the dish you wont get a signal.
Re: Getting a signal from SK-3005 to HD RecieverOkay I've tested the coax and have about 13-14V.
I may have not told the whole story in that the reciever I'm trying to hook to is a HD-DVR-HR23-700. So it's not just any DirecTV receiver!! I'm plugged into Sat#1 like I said with a direct coax feed from port "B" on the dish's base. In the receiver setup I've selected Slimline 5 then Multi switch and dual tuners. When I do the signal strength test I get all zeros in 1-8, 9-16, I get 55 in #19 and 54 in #28 on Sat 101. On Sat 110 I get 97 96 and 97 on the only 3 that don't say N/A. On Sat 119 I get 95,0,94,98,96,95,95,0,96,86 and 96 on the ones which aren't N/A. For what it's worth Sat 99 is all zeros ans Sat 103 is 0,22,0,23,0,23,0,23,0,22,0,23,0,22 on the ones not N/A. The unit is loctaed in zip code 98591 area. DirecTV has reffered me to KVH? at an 888 number thats not manned on the weekend????? Any more ideas? Thanks
Re: Getting a signal from SK-3005 to HD RecieverAre you running two cables to the receiver? The DVR function on your receiver requires two cables. Also, you might want to check and see if your receiver needs the B-Band converter installed.
Also, you can try our number 1-800-788-4417 but our call center closes at 4pm central on Saturdays.
Re: Getting a signal from SK-3005 to HD RecieverI'm not sure why I need two (2) coaxes to the receiver since I only have one at my residence. Anyway yes I ran two (2) runs to the reciever. One went into Sat#1 and the other to Sat#2 port (I think that's what it's called - it's the other connection at any rate). Both runs were tested for current continuity from the Sat #1 but not from Sat #2 port. I screwed one on tested it then put the other on and tested it so I knew they were both conducting. With both hooked up it didn't do any different than what I said above for signal strength.
A big note appears at the bottom of the DirecTV setup screen stating "NOT" to use a B-Band converter - whatever that is?? As far as that number I let a message last Saturday and I think I'm still waiting for a call back!! Oh well!
Re: Getting a signal from SK-3005 to HD RecieverCan I receive a signal from the sk-3005 to a dish 612 receiver without physical modification?
Thanks, Dale Vickers
