Antanna Maintenance & Lubrication

Postby Lariat150 » Wed Aug 22, 2012 10:38 pm

I have a 1990 Prowler with I believe a Sensar III antenna installed. I understand that the worm drive and elevating gear must be lubricated periodically as well as the quad ring to keep water out of the unit.

What kind of silicone lubricant does one use to lubricate these areas as well as the base of the unit accessed by removal of the plug in the base. I have been told that WD-40 is not what one is to use. I assume some kind of silicone grease should be used.

Please advise.

You are correct that WD-40 should never be used. Just get a good dry silicone spray lube and use it about twice per year.
