Second tv will not work

Postby swright227 » Mon Aug 13, 2012 9:40 am

I have a Winegard Minimax stationary Roadmax dish and a Dish tv VP622 DVR receiver. It is installed on my RV and I predominantly keep it in Florida, zip 34465. I have just arrived in Minden , NV zip 89423 and will be here for several months. Everything worked fine in Florida, but now my second tv won't work. I've checked the input on it and have verified it is on the antenna input with the coax from the DVR. I'm sure I need to adjust a setting on the System Setup screen, but don't know which one. I just get snow on all the channels on the second TV. Can anyone help me? Thanks

swright227,

If you're getting snow on the screen then there is no communication between the receiver and the second TV. Check your cables between the receiver and TV. We need to get on the correct input for the receiver to display.

:?: No joy on defective cable. I did a continuity test with volt/ohm meter and got a good loop. I then went to System Setup, Installation amd Modulator Setup on TV 1. TV 1 out is set to off, and TV 2 was set to channel 60, mode air. I changed the mode to cable and it changed the channel to 73. I then went to my second tv and selected channel 73. I got the Dish screen that says your receiver is off with the Dish logo. When I selected Select on the remote, I got the Channel Signal Loss screen, code 004. I cannot select out of this screen. It stays on this screen no matter which buttons I push. Any suggestions? Thanks

swright227,

Are we able to get into the receiver menus by pressing the menu button? We need to do this to attempt configuration.

A snowy picture would have nothing to do with the satellite receiver, cabling or antenna. A snowy picture indicates that the settings on the TV are not correct for the reception of the satellite signal (or a cable but you have eliminated that). The TV itself needs to be set to TV or Aux or HDMI or something (whatever is the appropriate connection). When done correctly, even if everything else is wrong, you will get the Dish/DirecTV logo or menu on your TV. Once you have the setup corrected you should be able to determine if there are any other issues.

Bill, I get the Dish logo. See above post as to how I got it. The problem now is that after I get the logo screen, I press the select button and get the Channel loss screen, code 004. When I press the menu button, the red SAT button goes out and the TV red light goes on. The screen stays the same. I tried turning off TV1 and turning on TV2, and got a picture on TV2. But, I had the same problem I was having on TV2 now on TV1. When I reverted back to TV1, I lost all my HD channels and could only get SD channels. I did a power reset and the HD channels came back on TV1 but I still have the same problem on TV2. The only memnu I can access is on TV1. I did not have this problem at my residence in Florida or while boondocking in Louisiana and Texas. Suggestions?
