Digital Elevation Sensor DE-4600

As I was dialing in my dish the Digital Elevation Sensor lost power. I had never change the battery so I replaced the old battery with a new 9 volt. Now I get an odd indication in the readout "bd" or at least that's what digital readout resembles. I removed the new battery and put the old battery back in and it had just enough power to reflect the correct angle of the dish before it went blank again. I checked both battery's the old battery registered 6.9 volts and the new battery was 9.2. It seems odd that the old battery has just enough power to power the digital readout momentarily providing the correct number and the new battery gives that odd reading which looks like "bd".
Could you provide any troubleshooting ideas?

I tried replying to your email earlier but the address you supplied bounced back. Here was my response:

Unfortunately a bd error stands for bad checksum and basically infers the sensor or the wallplate has failed.

We recommend replacing both if you’re replacing one. The kit for both the sensor and wallplate is DM-2000 and it retails for $99.99 + tax/shipping.

Thank you for responding. I assume the wall plate your talking about has the grey button and elevation digital display and the sensor is mounted behind the dish on the bracket or arm holding the dish. I have a Model DE-4600 and you suggest I order a DM-2000 replacement kit, correct? Does it come with easy instructions?

That is correct. It isn't difficult to replace at all, as you're just unmounting existing equipment and mounting new equipment. The instructions are self-explanatory but if you run into a bind call us at 800-788-4417 and we should be able to help you.
