MP1 and Dish

We have a new never used MP1, We changed from Dish in our home (over the winter) to Directv because we were told by them that we could take our unit in our camper and hook it up. After much problems we found out that was not true so we want to go to "Dish on the Go" but are not sure what receiver we should use. We don't want to make the same mistake twice. I see that Camper World is selling a receiver but again not sure if this is right. If I call Dish what should I be asking for?

While the MP1 is an excellent antenna to use with the DirecTV service (full SD programming from only one satellite), the MP1 is not a recommended antenna for use with Dish. Dish spreads their programming across 3 satellites and the MP1 can only be pointed toward one at a time. If you want to watch programming on another satellite you will have to go back outside and re-point the antenna in that direction, and likely do a new check switch, before you could watch anything. You would have to do this every time you needed to change satellites.
If you do go with Dish, I would buy the VIP 211K and then upgrade your antenna choice to the Winegard Carryout which will automatically switch between the 3 satellites as necessary any time you change channels with your remote.
