Carryout missing 119 sat on second receiver

Tried for several hours with no avail to set-up the "second reveiver" on my Dish VIP722 receiver. Repeated "Test Switch" procedurers failed to get the second receiver to recognize the "119" sat. 110 and 129 had good results.

Thoughts?

I assume you're talking the second tuner.

What model of satellite are you working with? Is it an automatic dome system, a Trav'ler, or a manually aimed dish?

The dome is a Carryout model GM-1518. The DishNet VIP722 is a dual tuner receiver. Yes, I am refering to the second tuner within the receiver.

Are you by chance using a DISH DP separator that allows you to separate one cable into two, which then connect to each tuner of the receiver?

Initially I was using the separater. I then cleared settings with the check switch test, installed the primary cable and reran the check switch test, Tunner #1 recognized all three satellites, Tunner #2 had none. I installed the secondary cable and reran the check switch test. Tunner #1 recongnized the three satellites and Tunner #2 recognized the 110 and 129 satellites. Did I possibly "Shoot myself in the foot" by rerunning the check switch test after installing the secondary cable? If so, how does the receiver recognize Tunner #2 has input?

Generally, it's going to be very difficult (very lucky at best) if you can get a dual tuner to get 2 successful check switches. Maybe Winegard will have a better routine than I have been able to figure out. The 2 tuners don't run the check switch at the exact same rate so if the first tuner re-points the antenna before tuner 2 is ready the check switch will fail. I don't recommend that anyone attempt to use a Dish dual tuner with the Carry-out. The other problem you will encounter (if you can get a successful CS) is that only one tuner can move the antenna. Therefore, if tuner 2 wants to record "Survivor" but tuner 1 has you pointed to a different satellite, tuner 2 has no ability to move the antenna. You will then see that Survivor recorded but that recording will be an hour of "Complete Signal Loss".
Do you know if you can reset the receiver to a single tuner? If so, you should be able to use that receiver in that mode.

Two cables is the way we prefer you to set up a dual tuner like that, but if the receiver did not install 119 it's hard to say why. I would pull up the point dish screen with the antenna off, then power on the antenna and let it lock on. When it's locked to 119 and is showing a green indicator on Tuner Input 01, try running a checkswitch again. Hopefully it will install 119 on the second tuner.

But do pay attention to what Bill's saying. The antenna can only see one satellite at a time and the first tuner will make that decision. The second tuner can receive any of the channels from the satellite that the first tuner has the antenna pointed at, but will not be able to get programming from an alternate satellite.

Bill, thanks for the additional info on the point procedures. I had notices the two tuners processed the check switch procedures at a different rate, however I never thought that it would possibly block turner #2 from seeing one of the satellites. I was aware of possible conflicts when programs are on different satellites, most of the programming we watch is on the 119 satellite. If we switch to single mode it really negates most of the advantages of a dual turner.

Winegard Tech, thanks for all your help. It appears my chances of utilizing the full capabilities of the dual turner are slim.

My original plan was to find a quick substitute for the manual 1000.2 satellite, however I found the manual set-up faster than running all the check switch tests for the Carryout.
