Carryout fails Satellite "110 odd" test all others pass.

Postby regor3 » Wed May 23, 2012 11:41 pm

My Carryout has started a new problem this camping season.

I use Dish TV and have an older 301E receiver.

I set it up the Carryout antenna and it finds Sat. 119 and locks in with strong signal. I run the test switch and Sats. 119 and 129 odd and even pass. On Sat. 110 the odd fails and the even passes.

I tried to allow the find satellite to run and sometimes it just crashes on step two and sometimes it actually gets to step five and once downloaded the TV guide but then crashed again. By crash I mean the TV screen goes blank and I have to unplug the box and start over.

I have done the above 5 times with the same result. I have moved the antenna and made the antenna search for the Sats. each time. I now have it in a place that worked fine last fall but no joy.

Called Dish Network and finally got their top tier support. They feel either the antenna isn't seeing 110 due to obstructions or the antenna has a problem.

Any help is appreciated.

regor3,

That's caused by an issue with the 301/311 receivers.

Give this a shot:

    1. Power up the receiver (not the satellite antenna)
    2. Press menu, 6-1-1 to access the point dish screen
    3. Highlight the checkswitch option on the right hand side
    4. Disconnect the coaxial cable connected to “satellite in” on the back of the receiver
    5. Highlight and select the “test” option on the screen
    6. Let it run through 38 tests. At the end, when prompted by the screen, select the “save” option.
    7. Reconnect the coaxial cable.
    8. Select the cancel or done option on the bottom of the screen
    9. On the screen titled “Point Dish”, configure it to show satellite 119 and transponder 11
    10. Power up the antenna
    11. Wait for the antenna to lock on and display a green signal on the screen with the message “Locked – Echostar 119 West”
    12. If it is an in-motion roof-mounted unit, allow the unit 6-8 minutes to finish the conical search (washing machine noise) and proceed when the unit is completely quiet. If it is a stationary unit or a Carryout, proceed immediately.
    13. Highlight and select check switch on the right hand side
    14. On the installation summary screen, there will be two options labled “Superdish” and “Alternate”. Highlight both of these and press select, thus inputting a checkmark in the box next to each.
    15. Highlight and select test again. This time it will run through 50 tests.

After finishing the tests, you should see six boxes with satellite 119 (odd/even), satellite 110 (odd/even) and satellite 129 (odd/even) and a switch that reads SW64.

regor3,

No problem. With the 301s, you may have to follow this more than once. If it does not give you the correct switch the first time, repeat the procedure and hopefully it will the second time.

Your instructions worked perfectly. I am now up and running and a happy camper. Well I'm happy and next week I'll be a happy camper. :)

I guess Dish's high tier support don't have all the answers. :o

I am glad it was a reciever problem and not an antenna one.

Thank you ver much!
