rooftop manual crankup dish antenna

Want to convert this setup from Direct TV to Dish network. Saw your earlier post about conversion.

I believe this is the model# of my current antenna SF2-D3. Serial# 5K509255s.

This antenna has a digital magic elevation assist device. Would like to retain that function if possible.

Would the SKA-KT1 work for me?

Rough idea of equipment cost.

Gene,

The SKT-KT1 is an upgrade kit for the DISH Trav'ler Automatic System.

Your manual crank-up dish should be capable of changing from DirecTV to DISH by just using the proper receiver and aiming for a DISH satellite.

With the crank-up antenna that you have you can receive all of the DirecTV SD programming (no HD) by pointing toward only one satellite (the 101 satellite). If you move to Dish, they use 2 satellites to provide the SD programming plus another to receive the HD programming. That's 3 satellites to receive their programming but the antenna you have can only be pointed to one satellite at a time so you will never be able to everything unless you actually re-point the antenna when you decide to change channels.

Thanks Adam. Your concerns about the limitations of the single satellite dish are a concern of mine too. I may purchase a "carryout antenna" instead depending on cost.

Thanks again for your guidence.
