Do the 3005 & the 1000 use the same control box & cable?Thanks Jim

Jim,

They do use the same control box and control cable but the parts to actually lock on to different providers are different. You need a different reflector, LNB and LNB feed arm depending on if you are using DISH or DirecTV.

Since it sounds like you would like to swap from a SK-1000 to and SK-3005, the answer is yes, you can just swap the hardware on the roof and use all the same cabling and controller. The antenna uses a 2 piece base so you simply remove mount from the base ring, disconnect the coax cables and then under the plate with the 4 screws above the coax cables you will find a connector for the Trav'ler control cable. Unplug this connection, unscrew the Hayco connector and remove the connector and the cable. Reverse the process with the new antenna and you are back in business.
