Why does the SK7002 only find one satellite?

Postby Amelom » Sat Apr 28, 2012 7:44 pm

I just installed the Winegard Trav'ler Automatic Multi Satellite SK-7002 system in my RV and it only locks onto one satellite (Shaw Direct). It's supposed to lock on to at least two satellites. So I'm not getting all the channels I subscribe to. My RV is still parked at my house; all I did was move my home receiver into the RV. I don't have any problems with my home system (Shaw Direct). Can anyone help me with this? Thanks very much!

Shaw changed their LNB and now the SK-7002 is the SK-7003 to accommodate this new hardware. I am not sure exactly what the differences are but I believe you have to change some settings in your receiver to make the 7002 work with the changes that Shaw has done.
Winegard should chime in here on Monday with the information that you need. I will be listening so I can get the correct information to other Shaw users as well.

Amelom,

Are you only locking on to one satellite per the readout on the IDU control box, or is it listing 111* and 107*? An asterisk indicates the antenna has locked on.

What Bill says is true, but this shouldn't yet affect most customers unless your receiver is set for a xKu receiver map, then you will lose channels from satellite 107.

If your Winegard control box is showing both 111 and 107 with a locked indication, then you may have a conflict between the receiver map and the satellite.

If you would like, I can verify if you are using the improper receiver map. To find this information, press the options button on your remote, select system setup, select system settings and the map will be contained in the last four numbers under heading F, which will read network data status.

Also, you will want to verify which SK you are working with since you said you just installed it. I can do this if you choose to private message me the SKIDU number on the bottom of your control box.
