AS-2003

We just started the camping season, but to our dismay something went wrong with our Winegard AS-2003. When I follow the steps to search, nothing happens. The On and Park LEDs are on and the satellite dish is lying flat on the camper roof. I push the search/moving button and nothing at all happens -- the LED does not come on and the dish does not move. I can hit the park button once (the search/moving LED will come on) and it will raise and then lower again to the park position. Any suggestions?

It sounds like you are not finding GPS.

The unit will not raise without it. Does the antenna have a clear view of the sky?

Try turning the unit on, pressing SEARCH once and letting it sit for 10-15 minutes. Some times after the unit has been in storage, the GPS needs to rebuild its map and this can take some time.

It does have a clear view of the sky. We left our camper at the campground we were at all last summer (seasonal site). When we went there to open up the camper for this season, that's when we had trouble. I will try your suggestion though. I hope it works! I'm worried because I've been reading about this system we have and it is my understanding that parts are no longer available for the AS-2003. Thanks for the advice and I'll let you know if it works.

Should the search/moving LED turn on when the button is first pushed or will it come on after the 10-15 minutes I wait?

That being the case, when was your AS-2003 installed?

We might need to talk about replacing the antenna.

I'm not exactly sure. We bought the camper used last year. It is 2002 and it came with the AS 2003 already installed. We used the system all last season successfully, but this year has been terrible.
