1518 Power

Postby tsbrewers » Thu Oct 04, 2012 10:18 pm

hey all, I am working on my parent's RV, and we recently purchased them a new GM-1518 and had a very basic question. Once the 1518 locks on, and the receiver is up and running, can you unplug the power plug from the dish and just use the power from the receiver? I thought I read that somewhere, but want to make sure. Or do you have to leave the power connected the whole time you are using it?

Thanks,

Brew

If you are a DirecTV customer you will be able to unplug the unit once locked onto the one and only satellite necessary for reception.
If you are a Dish customer there are 3 satellites used to provide all of the programming and the Carryout would need to be left powered on at all times (that you want to watch TV) so the antenna would have the necessary power to move between the various satellites as you change your channels.
