sat tv on a boat

Postby ratherbboatn » Tue Jul 14, 2009 11:38 am

I am interested in the Winegard Carryout Automatic Portable Satellite TV Antenna, model # GM-1518. I would like to use this on my boat. I wanted to know if this would auto track to the satelite if I am drifting or rotating around my anchor? In most cases when using it away from the dock the water would be calm.
(I would mount this on my radar arch)

If its wavy/lite chop will this still get reception? How long of a interuption will you get when rocking from light waves etc... I am considering getting a dedicated marine one, but the fact that this is portable makes it a nice choice. thanks for your feedback

The Carryout is not designed for this and I do not recommend it for this use.

It may or may not work well enough to satisfy your needs but we did not intend this purpose when we designed and tested the unit so there are several reasons that the unit may not work consistently on a boat.
