antenna preamp board replacement?

Postby shop hermit » Fri Jul 10, 2009 11:34 am

I have what I assume to be a 3090 or 3095 crank-up antenna (W hole and amp board) For a long time I put up with very poor recption, then someone told me I needed 12V power to it....Duhhh, why did they put on an amplifier equipped antenna and connect it to an output fixture with no provision for sending power to the antenna ! Well, I bought the correct outlet plate and connected 12 V to it. Still no good. Checked to see if 12 V was present at antenna....it was. Obviously the preamp isn't working. I took out the preamp board and connected the antenna to the coax with a 300 to 75 ohm matching transformer and bingo...I get signal...not as much as I would like, but not bad. Now, to the crux of the matter....can I get a replacement amplifier board. The antenna is perfectly good and I hate to buy a whole new head if I can get just a new amp board. Marking on the board are as follows.....28-92 W 1989 2700540 D. From what I read on other posts, I assume the RV2005 would be correct replacement head if that's all I can do?

Unfortunately, once the antenna is opened, it can not be resealed. It will not hold as you travel.

I recommend calling us at the number below about a replacement antenna.
