GM1518 not locking onto satellite

I just purchased a winegard carryout antenna 1518. I use directv and have a Phillips DSX5500 receiver. The antenna is plug directly into the receiver. I have set the receiver to the 3 satellite dish setting (there is no setting for multiswitch, i have also tried the 2 satellite and the 18"round settings with no luck). The receiver is a standard single tuner directv and is not HD.

I checked the dip switches they are set for directv. (All up #8 down). I placed the antenna where I know I have good southern exposure as I had my manual set dish in the same place.

The antenna gets power and looks and looks for the satellite but is unable to locate it. Finally it stops.
