GM1518 TV# 2 hookup

Postby sharpop » Sun Jul 15, 2012 6:48 pm

We have purchase a Carryout GM1518.We are going to set up an account with Dish Pay as You Go. We have bought 1 receiver VIP211k and want to buy another for the BR, I seen where you add 2 receivers to the carryout but where do you attach the coax for TV # 2 we have a Sat and cable outlet on the outside of our TT. We don't want to set up the account yet we are not leaving until mid to last of next month. Do we run the coax through the BR window and hook it to the receiver. I don't quite understand? Do I hook the receiver to the cable outlet in the BR an can only watch what TV #1 is watching???? Please help me try to understand. Do I buy the other receiver or not? Thank you, I looked through the questions and did not see one like this.

It's unlikely that if you are wanting to use 2 receivers there is cabling in place anywhere that would accommodate this. The Sat connection likely goes to the main living area and can be used for one receiver. However, it most like that the cable connection goes there as well. You must have a dedicated coax run from the Carryout (any antenna) to the receiver for a working connection. You may be able to drill a hole in the side of the bedroom wall (or someone qualified) and install an entry plate for the 2nd cable or, by doing nothing, you could feed the second cable through the window.

Just remember with 2 recievers you can only watch channels that the primary reciever is catching. Meaning if primary is watch a progrom on say satt.110, the the second reciever can only catch channels on the satt. Say for example your watching channel 140 and is on satt. 110, say your switching reciever 2 to channel 200 and channel 200 is on satt, 119 , you will not be able to recieve that channel.
