GM 1518 carryout Dish check switch problems

Postby rrtraveler » Sun Aug 21, 2011 2:31 pm

We just bought the carryout and trying to set up in Texas. Having a problem getting the check switch to work. It never shows all 3 satellites nor the SW64 that supposed to be installed inorder for toggle between satellites. We are using a DISH 311 reciever. Here is the sequence of what we've tried over and over with no luck:
We changed the switch inside the dome to 4,7,8 down for Dish network.
Ran a check switch test before connecting the coax cable To receiver to clear it and saved it.
Attached coax to receiver to SAT IN port, then plugged in the power to carryout.
Carryout searches for satellites and finally stop and locks on 119
We wait 30 seconds and then run the check switch, which returns a "only one satellite connected" status showing only 129 found (even and odd) and installed device: SW21 3-SAT

We've tried this sequence over and over to only get the same check switch test results. What are doing wrong? What we find interesting is that before running the check switch, sat 119 is locked but after the check switch test it's gone. Carryout dish is sitting on level concrete with clear view to southern sky. Do we need to try other DIP switch configuration?

Well we tried the hybrid Dish DIP switch settings (2,3,4,7,8 down) and the check switch test FINALLY worked. We are waiting for our smart card to update from Dish to see if we get all channels, but I'm hopeful this might have worked.

I'm happy to report the satellite is completely functioning and we have all our channels. YAY!! Appears we needed to use the hybrid DISH DIP switch settings.
