I bought a wingman for my batwing antenna on my rv (Coachmen) The dealer said it would fit the winegard batwing. It wasn't even close. The only thing it says on the antenna is "signal commander" and in the literature from Coachmen it says model SA-1000 with no name on it. The diagram in their parts breakdown says Winegard. Is this in fact a Winegard antenna? If it is will a sensar or other antenna fit on the raising mechanism. The antenna has a booster button on the cable plugin from the hdtv in the coach Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The Signal Commander is one of our competitor's units.

Although Signal Commander is a competitor, will the Wingman work with the Signal Commander antennea, i.e., will the Wingman boost the gain of the Signal Commander antenna?

Antenna Aiming Tip: Aiming, or 'tuning', your antenna was easier with the now gone analog stations. Just turn the antenna until you got the best picture. With digital signals, it is 'all or nothing', so finding the right direction to aim your antenna becomes more of a problem. Following are some tips to help get the antenna aimed.

* When you are parked, you may know the general direction of the largest nearby city. Point the Wingman in that direction and you are likely to pick up some channels when you do a 'scan'. Most newer digital TV's and converter boxes have a 'signal strength' feature that you can then use to 'tweak' the direction of your antenna for the strongest signal. Then scan again to see if additional channels are found.
* If there are other campers around, see which direction their antennas are pointing and use that as a starting point.
* If you plan ahead and/or have internet access, the following website will give you compass directions and distances to the nearest stations. You will need the address of the campground or at least the Zip Code. Always point the Wingman toward the desired station and do the signal strength/scan for best results. http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/Address.aspx

It's great to know that a particular transmission tower is at such and such bearing from my campground. What I can't find is any guidance about what orientation I'm supposed to place my Wingman Sensar (Batwing) antenna relative to that bearing in order to maximize reception. Longitudinal axis parallel to the bearing? Perpendicular to the bearing? Some angle in between?


Oh, and just for the record, "Thanks, politicians, for FORCING THE TRANSITION TO DIGITAL broadcast TV. Reception in fringe areas, like where most RV parks are located, is SO MUCH IMPROVED! Having a completely black television screen, or one with a frozen, pixillated display is EVER SO MUCH BETTER than having a picture with a little snow. Yea! for technological advances!" (Wondering whether these politicians were in the pocket of cable and satellite TV companies, or just IDIOTS who couldn't leave well enough alone!)
